LinkedIn’s changing – again. And this time, it’s not just the algorithm.

There’s been a quiet wave of updates recently that we thought you might find useful to know…

Hashtags are officially… not that important anymore.

Linkedin’s Senior Product Director Rishi Jobanputra confirmed what many of us have suspected: their algorithm no longer relies on hashtags to surface content.

What matters more? Natural language. Relevance. Quality.

So, while hashtags won’t hurt you, they’re not the secret growth hack they used to be.

Everyone can start writing like humans again!

Video: Cover videos now available for newsletters and articles.

Gyanda Sachdeva, Linkedin’s VP of Product Management shared they are now rolling out improvements to newsletters and longer form Linkedin articles, the main improvement being, you can now replace static banners with video headers on newsletters and long-form content. When your article appears in the Feed, a playable cover video can now appear to help draw readers in. A more interesting, and human way, to attract people into reading your content.

Analytics just got smarter.

LinkedIn just launched an API for individual post analytics, meaning platforms like Hootsuite, Buffer, Sprinklr, and more can now pull your personal post performance data (not just Company Page stats).

You’ll now get access, at an individual level, to:

• Follower growth trends

• Post-level engagement metrics

• Video performance (watch time, viewers, etc.)

Oh, and about that algorithm…

LinkedIn just walked back from a major change that prioritised older posts over newer ones. Users complained in numbers, and they’re starting the process of reverting back to a more time-sensitive feed. As much as we all enjoyed seeing that post about someone’s dog from two weeks ago…
